Black and White

Contrasts

I serve up intensity in the places I roam,

it’s in love and in laughter,

it’s in picture and poem.

It’s in my wit and my gaze,

it’s in both silliness and passion,

and it’s aimed straight at you.

But I’m soft, calm and quiet,

I really am so -

I stop and smell roses, and this much I know

that I’m a man of contrasts,

both of this and of that,

intensity…stillness –

it’s all under my hat.

For better or worse,

I’m constructed this way –

as I’m a study in contrasts,

just like the night and the day.
