Canyon of the Zion

Towering overhead;

staring unblinking at eye-level,

Zion meets you where you are,

confronting you with topographical lines

normally on maps,

edged in black on orange-colored rock

and sprinkled with brilliant May color.

Twisting and turning

one journeys through,

each bend betraying

new perspectives and views

as the canyon lays bare

it's secrets to sojourners,

who visit but dare not stay.
